📖 Script

In Vietnam, the ride-hailing company Grab has agreed to reduce certain fees for drivers and passengers. This decision came after Vietnam’s competition commission reviewed complaints from drivers between late August and mid-September. Drivers had expressed concerns about decreasing fares and high deductions affecting their income. Grab responded with several measures, including a slight reduction in app usage fees for drivers and setting a cap on the combined fees at no more than 32% of the total amount paid by passengers.

Additionally, Grab will reimburse about 3.9 billion dong to drivers, acknowledging that some deductions exceeded 35% due to algorithm errors or supply-demand fluctuations. This reimbursement will cover 0.13% of trips since 2024. The issue gained attention when drivers used social media to call for a boycott of the app in September.

To further support drivers and passengers, Grab plans to allocate around 912 billion dong for driver incentives and operating-cost support, and 1.8 trillion dong for passenger promotions during the fourth quarter. The watchdog will continue to oversee the implementation of these measures and could take action if any violations are found.
